Anticipating the PWR Presentations Featured in Celebrate! 2012

This Sunday, April 22, is the beginning of Celebrate!, a week dedicated to the appreciation of student achievement in academics and the arts.  Professional Writing and Rhetoric (PWR) seniors Mary Kate Hinshaw, Katie E. Kenney, and Anna E. Becker will be presenting their projects on Tuesday, April 24 during Student Undergraduate Research Forum (SURF) Session II. Presentations include Hinshaw’s “Text-Messaging: The ‘Digital Writing Underlife’ of Elon University Students,” Kenney’s “The Power of Travel Writing: Water Scarcity in India,” and Becker’s “Employing Rhetoric in International Public Service Nonprofits: Communication Strategies for Effective and Sustainable Service.” Stop by KOBC 242 between 10:40 and 12:00 if you have a chance to hear about the impressive research projects these students have been diligently working on.

The PWR student appreciation continues on Thursday, April 26 during the Professional Writing and Rhetoric Showcase. The showcase, which will be from 2:30-4:00 in the CUPID Studio (Alamance 318), gives students the opportunity to display their work, demonstrating connections between the liberal arts and the post-graduate world. The presentations address diverse topics such as public relations materials for the Conservators’ Center in Mebane, NC, a mentoring guidebook for Elon College Fellows, and an examination of revising undergraduate work for professional publication.
