My name it Katie Stewart and I am an English Professional Writing and Rhetoric major and a Human Service Studies and Creative Writing minor. I am graduating in January 2016, and I’m looking forward to spending my last semester at Elon as a CUPID Associate! Over the summer, I was an Editor Intern for The Borgen Project, a nonprofit that lobbies to get foreign aid legislation considered by Congress. I had the opportunity to edit for their blog and online magazine, which both focus on positive forward movement in the fight to eradicate global poverty.
During my time at Elon, I have taken various writing and human services classes that have helped me develop an understanding of how to write for different audiences in various contexts. I have done my best to overlap my studies by completing both professional and creative writing projects that involve poverty, homelessness, and service, three topics that I care about deeply. After graduation, I hope to enter a career path that allows me to continue writing in the context of social change and service.
This semester, I will be in the lab (Alamance 318) on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Feel free to drop by with questions!
