Meet the Associate: Abbey Foucart

Hi everyone!

My name is Abbey Foucart ,and this is my first semester as a CUPID Associate. I am a junior Professional Writing & Rhetoric major with minors in Psychology and Environmental Studies. Last spring I took the CUPID studio course and loved how we were able to work on the practical application of PWR concepts through hands-on projects. It was the first time I was able to create products for actual clients, an experience I thoroughly enjoyed. The course was an excellent introduction to the CUPID studio, and I’m so excited for the opportunity to now work as an Associate!cupid

The decision to change my major to PWR from Psychology came my sophomore year when I took my first-ever class in the major, the Writing Center Workshop. The class focused mainly on training students to be consultants but also covered many topics essential to the major, prompting me to research PWR further. What really stood out to me was how both professional writing and rhetoric could be applied to practically every field and across different media. I discovered that, while psychology was still a passion, what I really wanted was to pursue a career in writing or editing. I hope to someday have a job focusing on professional writing that also draws from my minors.

You can always find me in the library, either doing homework or working as the Assessment and Administration Lead Consultant at the Writing Center. I will be having my lab hours in the CUPID studio (Alamance 318) from 7 to 9 PM on Tuesdays. Feel free to stop by for anything PWR related or just to say hey!
