Musings

This course has taught me an immense amount about design and visual communication. I believe I have developed as a designer a lot in a variety of ways. Not only do I know how to use the actual software a lot better than I did before, I now know a lot of the more technical aspects (such as alpha channels and pngs vs jpegs!). I think I have a greater understanding of what my particular style is and how to incorporate that into work for a client. I have learned about different challenges designers face and creative ways to deal with those challenges. I have learned about the people who are doing design and those who have made it big in the design world. I have learned how to critique people in a way that I hope can only push their designs. I have learned about remaining consistent, incorporating flow, considering users needs, designing for mobile devices. I have gained so much knowledge from this class, so much more than I thought I would.

I loved this class for the most part and it really has helped me discover a lot about what I will be doing as a career. I came into the program knowing a little bit about everything and having dabbled in everything. I look back on the graphic design work I did for certain companies and am very, very pleased with how far I come. Also, at the beginning of the program I was not exactly sure where I saw myself after graduation due to the fact that I did have a little experience in everything. Due to this course I am hoping to be more involved in design than I thought I would. I am incorporating so much of what we did in this class into my capstone project too!
