Interestingly enough, I have seen some of the video from this site before. The video that I had seen was the story of bottled water. What I find interesting is that they typically give the viewers of their videos a great deal of information but keep you engaged by interesting animations. Their animations were simple yet continuously build upon the previous image and fit perfectly with the information that they are trying to convey.
Infographics are probably one of my favorite things that have emerged of late. What I’ve noticed is that they typically explain a great deal of information that people typically would not want to sit and read an article about. They either make a great animated video, like the one I watched or a great typographic and illustrative collage that makes ingesting the information fun.
Moreover, the information from the “Story of Stuff” made me think about where the things that I use are coming from. The fact is most of us don’t pay attention to those “Made in Taiwan” stickers that may be on the items we purchase. That production flow directly affects people on the earth and know I’m more aware that my Nike Fuelband could be destroying the earth. I think the fact that I am now reconsidering where I buy my products and where they come from is the desired effect that the creators of this video wanted me to experience.
