Art Matters

Art is a form of communication.  It is a universal language that everyone can understand because it doesn’t need the use of words, but symbols, colors, shapes, and other visuals. People have been creating different types of art from the beginning of human society, and I personally think it is very important to study for us as students of visual media.

The history of art, is the foundation of all art today whether it be static or digital art.  We are students of art, must learn from past cultures to produce even better art today.  Its also very important to understand art, to deliberately convey what you want to through art.  Without understanding the basics of art it is impossible to produce meaningful art.

By learning the different artistic movements in history, we can see how art has been shaped and how the progression of peoples thinking has changed overtime.  Understanding art is quite complicated, and I must say I have found it hard to really see what is “good” and “bad” art.  The only way to master this topic is to study, read on it.  But not only study, but produce art is how you really start to understand it.  Our project this week will be a huge jump in the right direction to mastering visual media/art.
