Why is this art? What is art? Does art matter?

Art can be defined as classificatory or honorific, but to me art is a form of work that you are expressing on a piece of paper, canvas or computer. Many people can define art in there own way they either can something negative or they are going positive. It is all about how you, the artist/designer feel about your work.

As visual media students I feel that it is very important that we know of artists, different forms of art, artistic movements, and art in general. I say this because as a designer we should have a basic understanding of artists and their work. Knowing different types of artist and their artwork gives us as designers a basic foundation of how we can do our designs.  As a designer it is very important that we are aware of important professionals in our field because it sets us apart from other designers. Knowing this information allow us as designers to understand there work and the purpose of behind the design.
