Ah, visual aesthetics. This class is probably the class I am looking forward to the most. It is not the most comfortable subject for me, but it is a subject that I would love to master. I mean, who doesn’t want to be able to hold conversations over locally roasted coffee (considering Starbucks is too mainstream now) about the kerning of the latest font that just came out.? Who doesn’t want to be that dark individual who always carries around his sketchbook listening to the heartbreaking songs of Ryan Adams? Well, I am kidding, but hey – being an art snob might be kinda cool. Anyway, back to the subject. I was an Art History major in school, so I feel like I have a good idea about visual aesthetics. I also understand that aesthetics are always changing and that culture plays a big role in what makes something beautiful. So while I take this class, I shall keep in mind the opinions of Immanuel Kant and the philosophers who followed him. And that is to pay attention to quality, universality, necessity, and purpose.
