Musings

This Visual Aesthetics course, has taught me a lot about the overall field of design, and not just graphic or digital design, but design as a whole.  We started the semester off by learning about art, which design is apart of.  We learned the basics and fundamentals of visual design, such as visual hierarchy.  Which should me that when designers create, everything is intentional in their piece of design.

I also learned a great deal about typography, which is essential to grasp knowledge of.  I learned how to always keep the audience in mind also, understanding that I have creative control over my projects yet can’t get away from my original goal in the process of creation.

Of course, learning the fundamentals is essential, but in this course I was also able to learn how to use many different design softwares which will be essential to me future career in interactive media.  Now knowing what I like, and don’t like will help me narrow down my job choices, and where I choose to apply for jobs based off this new knowledge.

Finally, one of the best skills I attained from this course was how to intelligently critique art and design.  I have a different eye for design after this course, and it hopefully will take me far in my career.
