Bridge, Roof, and Soldiers.

I watched Bridge and Roof, then I was interested in watching more so I watched Soldiers too.

Bridge: I did not exactly know what to expect going into watching this, however, I don’t think I particularly liked this story. It felt really weird and uncomfortable. There was the obvious friendly flirtation between the two characters, but I never knew if they were actually interested in each other even though the girl mentions a boyfriend. I was not sure if the last scene, where they look at each other and laugh, was supposed to signify their really great friendship or what. However, I really loved the shot of them on the floor, when they first sit down to do the shaman ritual. It was a simple shot, but I just really liked how centered they were and the lighting of the room was perfect.

Roof: I really liked this one. I liked it a lot more than I liked Bridge. The black and white effect really made an impact on that overall feel of the story. I also really appreciated that at first it was just the one characters face, with the other two characters voice. It was clear that the man is not alone, even though the viewers cannot see who is with him.  I also thought that each character has a very strong and intriguing storyline. The one character is terrified and confused, the other is very calm and level headed and the final is pessimistic and angry. Between the three of them, it shows the varying emotions that could have happened if people were really experiencing being stuck on a roof with water levels rising. Finally, I really liked that the music was so calming at the end. It made me feel as though the characters were going to be okay even though we didn’t see them move from the roof.

Soldier: First and foremost, I love that the background music is from explosions in the sky. I really liked the shot of the one soldier pushing the character Michael forward to talk to his mom. I found this story to be particularly powerful and so meaningful. It actually got to me a little bit because of how much so many people can relate to the mother character. I thought this one was great.
