I watched a few of the Hillman Curtis short films, but the two that stood out to me most were Roof and Bridge. Each film had beautiful close-ups shots on actors faces which evoked emotions out of the audience. The close ups allowed me to really feel what the actors were feeling in each of these short films. In Roof I could feel the frustration, and in Bridge I could feel the tension and love between each character. Also, the sounds used in each film were excellent, whether sound effects in Roof, and the subtle soft music in Bridge, sound was used in excellent ways. Also, silence was used at the right points in time, especially in the short film Bridge. In Bridge I also liked the black and white feel, along with the long takes that were used in this film. The black and white gave it a different feel than most films we see in this day and age. In the end, each film took a simple storyline and make it into a short quick, yet dynamic film.
