Title Sequences

I watched a bunch of the title sequences from feature films, and was happy to have recognized and remembered a few from my favorite films.  The first thing that I thought when I first viewed a handful of these title sequences was that they were visually stunning and that timing was impeccable.  Each one of the great title sequences wanted you to keep watching even though the film hasn’t even started yet.  Reading who directed and produced the film before the film started isn’t the most exciting thing, especially when most want the movie to start right away.  However, and well made title sequences can keep the hungry movie watcher at bay.

As I eluded to before, timing was impeccable when it came to a well made title sequence.  Each one had movement on the beat when music was playing, which added a nice touch to each piece.  Also, each title sequence had a lot of movement in general, things never stood still for too long and it made sure it kept your eyes moving, even though less movement would happen when important information was on screen, such as the directors name.

Another thing, that I gathered from watching these title sequences was that a well made title sequence worked seamlessly with the movie the were preceding.  They conveyed the exact feel of the movie,  without words and only visually.  They did not feel totally separate from the movie, but instead more of an extension of the film.
