79 Essays on Design

I highly enjoyed this pleasant quick read written by Micheal Bierut.  His writing style was very understandable and easy to read, and was also in a very friendly tone.  When reading this, it seemed as if he was giving advice just to me.  Each tidbit of advice was well received by my ears, even if I agreed or disagreed with his statement– with me generally in agreement.

His How To Become Famous chapter started us off with helpful bits of information, and tips on how to become a great designer.  Some of the information I had heard before but nonetheless its always good to get another reminder of good advice.  Even so, some of his advice I had never heard before but I guarantee I will use them in my life now, or at least keep them in my mind for when I want to use it.

I Am A Plagiarist ended this reading assignment, with yet another reminder for me that gaining knowledge, and also taking in artistic concepts and creative qualities of other peoples work is OK! and actually encouraged in this creative field.  Blatantly stealing someones concepts and ideas is of course not acceptable, but drawing inspirations and guidance from someones work isn’t.
