Data Visuals

I thought this video was really informative and interesting in that visualization and perception are present within various aspects of daily life. Data visualization is important because it is a tool used to make information and content interesting and engaging to anyone and everyone.

Like Fernanda said, half of the human brain is hardwired for vision. We are dependent upon site in our initial interactions and judgment process. Data visualization allows people to take advantage of the way that we are programmed so we can absorb more of the world around us and process the details our eyes catch throughout the day. Data visualization is significant in that it takes basic and mundane information and makes it appealing and inviting for people to primarily look at and enjoy and then digest the content itself.

Without an appealing visual, something to draw in an interest, people are less inclined to explore different projects or causes. Today’s society bombards the average person with the ideal image and/or brands people strive to obtain. Without the visuals to enhance the product and make it desirable, there would be less inclination to obtain it. Unlike the new Chanel bag or Lily Pulitzer dress, data visualization gives meaning to important and significant information that may have been overlooked simply because it was presented in a mundane and bland manner.
