The story of stuff is an educational website aimed at improving sustainability through improving world awareness.
I watched the first movie, titled The Story of Stuff, and I generally agreed with what the women was saying. I thought it was very interesting to hear her initial stance on the topic. She claims that a linear design cannot exist on a finite planet indefinitely. I think this is absolutely true if you think about it. The rest of the short film the narrator provides examples of how the design of material economics is failing miserably and why.
After watching the film I explored the site a little bit. What I found to be the most powerful part of this website was its call to action. The people involved in the Story of Stuff Project desperately want our help to help create a more sustainable environment to increase prosperity for generations to come.
I also felt that the aesthetics of the film matched the site and the message. The simple hand drawn illustrations in the video helped make these topics much more friendly to the user and not as intimidating as some of the topics sounds.
