I thought this was a pretty cool site. I looked through the site and liked the concept of the grass roots like videos and storyboards. The drawings reminded me of a most recent time when we were in Quin Xu’s class drawing storyboards.
I chose to watch the Story of Electronics. I have a hard time watching videos that refer to the environment because I’m reminded that so many terrible things are happening to the world we live in and it scares me. I think I live in my bubble of forgetting some of these things often happen because I do not know how to make the major changes necessary. However, each time I watch a video like this, I will be more conscious for a while and try to improve my part in polluting the world.I know that it only takes one person to make a difference, and that person could start with me or anyone of us.
I do not have an iPod or iPad, but if I did, I would not know how to dispose of them environmentally correctly. When I watching this video and saw that electronics had up to 5 pounds of lead in them (tv’s had 5 pounds), I was shocked. We hear that lead poisoning is dangerous and deadly for us, but then the world is putting toxins in the environment often. That all shocked me.
I will be more conscious of how I throw away electronics and batteries for now on.
