I watched Bridge by Hilman Curtis. This short film is about two friends of the opposite sex talking about a book that proclaims to helping relationships. The friends tested out an exercise from the book. These characters definitely seemed to secretly want to jump each other. There was sexual tension, even though the girl has a boyfriend. The music made the scene seem a little more romantic, especially when they were close to each other and had to open their eyes. I like that the scene ended up in the air without showing what the male character concluded from the exercise. I wanted them to kiss.
The second I watched was Embrace. I’m a little confused as to what is going on…Once again, there is sexual tension. The camera zooms in on the woman’s hand on the man’s back and her stroking his side. It shows a close up on the two hugging, but never shows them from afar. The woman is breathing heavily, which is causing me to breathe heavily…I feel like I’m lacking oxygen listening to her. And after finishing the film, i now know why she’s upset. It ended with the girl looking up at the camera as it zooms out.
I watch a few others, I like his videos. I noticed Curtis likes his videos to only have two protagonists…with the occasional third person saying a few lines. Blow up was interesting. He likes to stop abruptly. Kind of like
