The video I decided to view was on Lawrence Weiner. Even though the video wasn’t much longer than 4 minutes, I already feel that I gained a sense of what kind of man he is. He’s an interesting guy to say the least.
But was struck me as most interesting, was that he seemed to be a thinker. A deep thinker. He started off by saying, ” How is the universe suppose to be?” This already got my mind racing and thinking about rules, and how we can create our own. With the assignment due next Friday, rules and structure have been on my mind.
I’m learning that designers, and thinkers, and innovators have found ways to create there own rules. But they stick to those rules and thats what makes them great. The uniformity, but yet the complex thinking behind there designs is something to admire.
When watching this short film, the thought also crossed my mind that each person tends to find there own style. Whatever feels most comfortable to them, and to just flow with that.
His confidence in himself, was something that I also took from the video. With becoming more familiar with these new tools at my finger tips through my current courses, I’ve found myself struggling at times to make things look the way I want them to. But I realize I have to have confidence in my abilities, and to keep practicing, find my own style, and create my own rules.
