Hey there! My name is Andrea Peters, and I’m at sophomore (c/0 2021) here at Elon. Up until last semester I was pre-med, but I am now pursuing an International Business major with Spanish and Peace & Conflict Minors. This was a big change in direction for me, but I am so excited for what I’m doing now. I was also just accepted into the IBC Seville program, so I will be moving to Spain in the fall. For the past year and a half I have been working on campus as a WSOE Radio DJ and Music Journalist, and also volunteering with Elon Volunteers Refugee Outreach as an English Assistant. I also work off campus at The Fat Frogg and Mellow Mushroom, so feel free to come visit!
I signed up for this class as an elective for my minor, but I feel as though it compliments my interests overall. I want to someday work in foreign service/intercultural communication, and so understanding my role as a global citizen is important. I also wanted to have something like this under my belt before going abroad.
My COR 110 was incredible. LD Russell was my professor, and I couldn’t be more thankful. We opened each day with a song lyric, which were usually allusions to real world issues and we would use the lyric to spark our first discussion. The class had a sort of socratic structure, meaning we would discuss world events and look for the answers within the perspectives offered (instead of being taught strict answers).
I am excited to see where this course goes and I look forward to meeting everyone!
