PSA: Emma, Monica, Kate H, Kate W.

  • The point of our PSA is to evoke thought from students and staff at Elon to define term global citizen and hopefully think of an action plan of how they can strive to become one.  We found this important because we have noticed that many people at Elon think about themselves and the groups of people around them, ignoring larger issues around the world. We have had the opportunity to become aware of this through our class, and want others to start thinking about what we have been studying, as it can apply to everyone. So, in the end we are trying to encourage people to step outside of their comfort zone and acknowledge, or generate an awareness of a term that they can now achieve to be.
  • We can move the needle forward, because the people who are being interviewed or viewers of our PSA, have a moment to think about what it means to be a global citizen, and therefore presents the opportunity for these people to change. So through more awareness of the term, it is more likely for more people to be the one who take action in humanitarian aid efforts.
  • Our plan: To capture videos of people of different generations giving a response to the question “What is a global citizen?”. We want to hear their response without any background knowledge, and inform them that it is okay to be unsure and say they don’t know.  To piece together the video we will use transitions so that the collection of people flows nicely in the video, and are hoping to add background music that is kept the same during the video. Since the responses are going to be longer than the length of the PSA, we will have to edit the clips to determine what would strengthen and share the message of the PSA best.
