Kenzie Intro

Hey everybody!
My name is Kenzie, she/her pronouns, from Atlanta, GA and have, what some would call, an excessive amount of ATL pride. I am a Sociology Major with a triple minor in Teaching & Learning, Poverty & Social Justice, and Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies.

COR110 for me was nothing more than a requirement and I remember very little from this course. The professor that taught my section was not passionate about the subject and did not engage the class so very few of us actually engaged in any of the material. He attempted to cover all of the subsections of what a COR class could be rather than focusing on one and therefore we ended up moving so quickly that nobody seemed to retain any information.

As a sociology major, however, I believe I have learned a lot in my previous courses that will be applicable and interesting in this particular course. I just returned from the SOC/ANT J-term abroad trip in Australia and my eyes were opened to a culture and community on the opposite side of the globe, facing horrific racial, gender, and class oppression. This trip was powerful and educational because rather than hitting all the major tourist sights, we were shown around by people of Aboriginal descent and brought to sites that had spiritual and historical significance despite the Europen colonizers doing all they could to turn a blind eye to the horrors of their genocide on this culture. I am extremely excited to be in this class and learn more about what it means to be a global citizen and looking at things from a more ethnocentric view.

Also, this picture is me being a *cough cough* global citizen
