Honda

For today’s visit we went to the Honda Power Equipment factory. Whenever I would hear about Honda I would think of just the car and did not know that they built anything else. Honda Power Equipment has been in production for 30 years. HPE made 300 million sales this past year and has about 1,000 employees. They are a global company and are located in China, France, India, Japan, Thailand, Australia, and Brazil.

What is Honda’s plan?

Honda Power Equipment’s plan is to continue their success by staying on their day-to-day plan. On our tour there are boards that calculate the products that they have made. This board has their plan number and what they have right now. This keeps them on track and able to maintain their success.

Overall I thought that it was a very informative tour. I really loved the fact that Honda Power Equipment has not laid off any of their employees in the United States. That is huge especially considering the drop in the economy. I also enjoyed walking around the factory. It was impressive that the workers on the lines have twelve seconds to complete their task. I learned a lot about Honda and found it very interesting.
