Today we visited the headquarters of SAS, a private company that leads the world in advanced analytics software. SAS strives on treating their employees like family with the many benefits they have to offer. Some employee benefits include an on-campus daycare, fitness center, salon, coffee shops, and even a pharmacy. What is unique about these places is rather than paying for their services with cash, you can elect to have anything you buy deducted from your paycheck.

Who is the customer?

When we asked a SAS employee “who is the customer” she had a difficult time answering. This is because there are so many different types of customers all over the world that it is hard to pinpoint who exactly their customer is. She did say one of their biggest customers is the government because SAS provides them with advanced analytics software.

What does the customer value?

There are many things that the customers of SAS value. The biggest is most likely innovation. SAS is constantly preparing for what the future may hold, rather than waiting for the future and adjusting accordingly. Another thing customers values is the magnificent customer service. There is never any waiting time when calling SAS customer service and SAS does a great job hiring friendly, patient people to work in this field. Also, many big companies tend to use a robot to deal with customers to cut down cost. When calling SAS, you will always be speaking directly to a real person instead of getting frustrated with robots.

The future has brought an increased use of technology and because of that increase, SAS is working on becoming more user-friendly on mobile devices such as an iphone or ipad.
