NCSAM Week 1: Becoming cyber-aware
This October marks the 12th anniversary of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). During the month, both private and public sectors, as well as communities, will celebrate NCSAM by sharing tips, advice, resources, and best practices for staying safe while connected. We live in a connected world and need to know how to stay safe while online.
Long gone are the days when we only used the Internet for surfing. Today we purchase airline tickets, deposit checks into our bank accounts, sync our fitness trackers, access our health records, order groceries, and so much more – mostly from the palms of our hands. We can contact family, friends, and even our doctors. A device that is not connected to the Internet is nearly useless today. However, being online threatens our privacy and the security of our personal information, so we all need to do our part to protect ourselves while online. Cyber security is a shared responsibility, so let’s commit to being more cyber aware this October and beyond.

Each week of NCSAM has a different theme that focuses on an aspect of cybersecurity. Here are the themes for NCSAM 2015:
