Center for Creative Leadership

In todays class we went to the Center of Creative Leadership. The CCL was founded in 1970 and reaches more than 120 countries from locations on four continents. The headquarters are located in Greensboro, North Carolina, there are also offices located in San Diego, California, Brussels, Belgium, Russia & CIS, and Singapore. Walking into the company I did not know much about it and thought that it was just like every other leadership conference. To my surprise it was a worldly known and highly recommended. Peter F. Drucker’s five most important questions were answered during the tour.

The first question: What is CCL’s mission?

The Center for Creative Leadership’s mission is to advance the understanding, practice and development of leadership for the benefit of society worldwide.

Who is CCL’s customer?

CCL has many customers worldwide. Their services are not limited to just one person or group but offered globally to anyone who is interested in participating. They offer many opportunities to use their services through schedule sessions, online clinics, or speakers that come to the customer. One of the main reasons CCL is know globally is because their programs are not limited and they work hard to adjust their programs so that they will fit the needs of many different cultures.

What does the customer value?

CCL’s customer values the great education they receive from the programs offered. Each session is planned thoroughly in the hopes that their customers leave with a better understanding on how to be a leader.

What are CCL’s results?

The Center of Creative Leadership has been very successful in accomplishing their mission and goals. They serve more than 20,000 individuals and 2,000 organizations. This includes more than 80 Fortune 100 companies across all fields. Last year alone they funded 255 scholarships for leaders of nonprofit organization to attend their educational programs.

What is CCL’s plan?

CCL believes that to carry out their mission statement they need to do it in a globally responsible manner. They believe to achieve this they need to do the following; create new knowledge, be a great place to work, support local and global communities, manage their operations responsibly, and engage their stakeholders.

Overall I learned a lot about all the company had to offer but also learned some stuff about myself. So far each of our visits we learned about the company only but in todays visit our guide actually engaged us to participate in activities that taught us about the company and ourselves. We took surveys, gave a short presentation, and completed a team project. Completing the activities served as more beneficial then just someone lecturing us. I thoroughly enjoyed this visit and was surprised to leave knowing more about myself.
