Hi! My name is KimberMarie and I am a 2L at Elon University School of Law. I grew up right outside of Greensboro, NC but lived in Charleston, SC for 3.5 years as I attended College of Charleston. Upon starting undergraduate, I was interested in pursuing Archaeology after watching one too many Indiana Jones movies but realized that, while digging is fun, it is not something I want to do for a full-time career. I then pursued my B.S. in Anthropology as it would still allow me to study the subjects that I loved in Archaeology while also studying subjects that I could apply day-to-day in an office or organization, such as interviewing, cultural competency etc.

I was accepted to Elon as a Leadership Fellow after growing up having recited the following saying every day before school for my parents: “I will be a leader by example, an example by my behavior and if there’s a problem, I will adapt, improvise, and overcome.” Since starting law school, I have helped re-start the First Generation podcast, @Lawyer, Affirmed, with fellow Elon law students and have served as a TA and RA for Torts and IP-related subjects, respectively. I also wrote on to the Elon Law Review and now serve as Chief Symposium Editor for this year’s Symposium, “Hodl and Horizons: How Technology is Changing the Legal Landscape.”

I am committed to pursuing a career in IP, technology, and media because I find the overlap of the law with information and communication an interesting (and pertinent) subject. In the long-run, I plan on getting involved in the art and cultural heritage scenes so that I can incorporate my passion for history and cultures with my legal career. While here at the SBEC, I am excited to gain practical experience involving contracts, IP and business. I also really enjoy helping entrepreneurs and getting involved in the start-up community having competed in prior pitch competitions at College of Charleston’s ImpactX and the formerly known, Harry and Reba Huge Foundation, NGAL joint competition in Estonia and Nebraska.

Any Elon law student would enjoy this clinic – it’s a great opportunity to get involved with the local small business community and learn practical skills for post-graduation!

Hello, my name is Kofi Ladans, and I am a 2L here at Elon University School of Law. Although I was born in New York City and raised in Accra, Ghana, West Africa, I spent most of my adolescence in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am a proud graduate of the University of Cincinnati (Go Cats), where I studied Communications, Political Science, and Economics.

I do not currently have a specific area of law I would like to practice. However, my interests’ areas consist of Intellectual Property, Employment, Bankruptcy, and Entity Formation.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my mother and sister, visiting friends back home in Cincinnati, perusing art museums, and fitness training. I look forward to learning as much as I can in the clinic, helping clients take the next step in their business ventures, and applying the lessons learned here to whatever endeavor I pursue after graduating from Elon Law.
