Hi! My name is Abby Robertson, and I am a 2L at Elon University School of Law. I grew up in New Jersey, right outside of NYC. I am a proud alum of Virginia Tech, where I graduated in 3 years and studied public relations and political science.

At Elon Law, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a Moot Court Board Member, the Sports and Entertainment Law Society Vice President, and work as a TA for a Legal Methods and Communications II course. I am interested in the transactional side of the legal field, specifically in relation to intellectual property law, media law and corporate law.

I am excited to be spending my spring residency working at Elon Law’s Small Business and Entrepreneurship Clinic! I am gaining practical skills and knowledge in the world of business law, while also having the opportunity to help individuals and businesses in the community. So far, my experience has included assisting the clinic’s clients with entity formation, trademark/copyright applications, and providing general legal advice. The clinic is a great opportunity for Elon Law students to gain real world experience that can be used in their post-graduation careers!

Hi! My name is Trey Schopen and I am a 2L here at Elon Law. I was originally born in Raleigh, but spent only a few months there before moving to the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. My undergrad was at The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio where I was a Philosophy and Religious Studies double major, as well as a member of the swim team there. Though I spent most of my life in the Midwest, I always knew I would wind up back on the East Coast.

While at Elon I have worked as a Student Mentor and an Admissions Ambassador. Elon was such a warm and welcoming environment and community when I first came here. As a first generation law student and moving nearly 1,000 miles from my nearest family, daily tasks, much less law school, seemed incredibly daunting. However, thanks to the amazing faculty and student here, it was a much easier transition than I could have ever imagined. With my positions as a Mentor and Admissions Ambassador I hope to offer that same warm welcome I received to all future and prospective students that I interact with.

In the future I would like to work on the transactional side of IP. I am still not sure of exactly what I would like to be doing or where, but I have always been interested in intellectual property and would like to stay as far out of a court room as possible.

The clinic offers so many meaningful services to our local businesses and the community at large. Any student would benefit from taking part in the clinic, whether as a residency or a class, not just those students interested in business and IP. I look forward to taking all that my time here has taught me and bring it into practice after I graduate.
