My Time In Vietnam

Now, after finally feeling adjusted to the time difference, I find myself fully absorbing Vietnam in every sense. Last night we arrived in Hoi An and, although we’ve only been here for one day, it is completely evident how contrasting two cities within one country can be. While only an hour flight from each other ( Hanoi to Hoi An ), there are differences that are apparent while simply driving down the streets. The most crucial and evident difference being the traffic! The second seeming to be the population. It is very exciting and interesting to be able to see such diverse cities in the same country.

In addition to visiting Hanoi and Hoi An, we also has the opportunity to spend a night in Ha Long Bay. It was truly like nothing I have ever seen before! And I am pretty confident to say, that I will never see again. We had the opportunity to take 4 person boats through a small floating, fish village that contained only 70 families. In addition to seeing the homes, we were able to get off and view the school where the children would learn general studies, as well as computers ( which I found very interesting ). Ha Long Bay was eye opening. Especially to be able to experience and see people living like that, in such an isolated, peaceful, small community, firsthand. It was especially eye opening to see after coming from a condensed, overwhelming place such as Hanoi.

Although we’ve only been here for a week, we have seen so many contrasting and diverse cities and places that shape the country of Vietnam. I can not wait for what is ahead, and to continue this incredible journey.
