Zach Wahls was they keynote speaker at Intersect: Diversity and Leadership conference this year. He spoke on his experiences and about his life being raised by two lesbian parents. Wahls was conceived using artificial insemination. On January 31, 2011 Wahls addressed the Iowa House Judiciary Committee in a public hearing about the proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in Iowa. Over night, his speech went viral and he became an inspiration to people around the country. As he spoke at Elon, students could see his passion for his family and for LGBTQ rights. Wahls recently wrote a book titled My Two Moms and is now touring the country speaking about his experiences and his beliefs. Seeing someone who is 21 years old, still taking college classes, and actively fighting for what he believes in was truly inspiring.
