Wikipedia defines Aesthetics as a branch of philosophy dealing with the nature of art, beauty and taste, with the creation and appreciation of beauty.. LOL I have always wanted to quote Wikipedia. On a serious note Wikipedia isn’t wrong Visual aesthetics is a philosophy that deals with art and what one sees as beautiful. What I may think looks great you sometimes don’t agree with but it’s a matter of taste.
Going back to when we first started this course and had to read that book “ Why is that art?” It seems that philosophers have been arguing over what they consider to be art for years so I have concluded that no matter how sure I am that something looks great I have to be ready for someone to slam down on it because that is ART its subjective.
What I have really taken from this course is that I need to believe in my work and trust my instinct and then STICK WITH IT and STAND BY IT no matter what anyone says. Confidence in my work seems to translate to the way people take it. This has definitely been my favorite class this semester only because I feel like I have learnt so much in the little time we had and I ended up producing interesting things.
I have learnt the importance of Typography which I am still struggling with but it has without a doubt brought my attention to it which in turn will help me improve in a skill which I know I am lacking.
