Guilty..

I really enjoyed the piece “I am a plagiarist”. For one I loved his style of writing, it kept me interested and wanting to know more. Not really about the Harvard graduate who got sued, but more about unconsiously having design ideas in your head and not realizing that you are using them.

I don’t see that as plagiarism, I think its more inspiration. You see something that you like, you remember it and it serves to help you at a later stage. Unless you are using the exact same design then isn’t it just recreating? ( that doesn’t sound right but you get the idea).

Isn’t all art based on an inspiration from something? I get inspired by artists all the time and decide to venture into their unique style of painting. It is just a style and not like I am copying the exact work they are doing. Does that make me a plagiarist? New ideas usually branch of older ones and I don’t think there is much that really hasn’t been done. Does that mean we submit to not trying to create something new? or a variation from something that already exists?. If this is considered plagiarizing then I am GUILTY too.
