I have had some design experience. I like to think of myself as a designer, but truthfully I’m an amature. I have taken a variety of shallow dives into the desing pool, learning a little bit about typography here, studying color theory there, experimenting with white space at other times. But I want to know more. Design is one area where I feel like my interactive media skills are lacking and this class is going to help me improve them.
From this class I hope to learn more about how typography can function as the focal point of a page, or how selecting the perfect color scheme can make or break the over all feel of a flash widget. I expect to come out of this semester not only a better designer but equipped with the tools to articulately explain my ideas and my reasoning behind design choices. I also expect to never use comic sans, because as much as i would like to write a poem about unicorns, I have passed the acceptable age bracket. 🙁
