30 convos

This week I watched 3 shorts from the 30 conversations on design web page. I really enjoyed this assignment and ended up watching many of the thirty videos, I will focus on the three that I enjoyed the most.

Khol Vinh:

Fist I was taken back by how poorly this video was shot, but as I watched more I realized that all of these conversations are shot by the designers them selves, and the quality varies. His favorite example of design is the internet, because it the the composite work of many designers and it is constantly changing and evolving, and often times affects change on those that use it. He asserts that the biggest challenge that designers must face is that designers must stop selling things and start making things. Khoi worries that too many of designers move to deceive or convince people to buy products rather that working to improve the quality of other products them selves.

Luis Fitch:

This was one kooky cat. He did the entirety of the interview in a Lucha out fit complete with cape and mask; also the interview was conducted by what sounded like a 4 year old. Luis spent the majority of his film making guacamole. I think this is kind of crazy behavior that only the extreme genius possess. Also his guac was epic, I tried it myself!

John Miltello:

This designer talked about how the design mind is unique and it can inspire. I really enjoyed how he incorporated everything form a Lamborghini to Raymond Lowie in his discussion. He asserted that the main problem that designers should try and fix is public transportation, I completely agree this this statement. Also he hates remotes.

Cheers,

Neff
