Parting Thoughts

This semester in Visual Aesthetics has been a great experience.  There have been several things that have stuck out to me about design.  First off, it’s subjective.  Very subjective.  This only matters if you are designing commercially.  Second, fight for your design.  If you love your design, fight for it.  Third, I have developed a very healthy respect for typography.  Before this class, the only font I liked to use was Futura (thanks Wes Anderson), but I now realize the potential, importance, and complexity of typography.  For the record, I still use mostly Futura, but I’m less ignorant about it.  Lastly, I’ve begun to find my identity as a designer, and it involves the motto, “less is more.”  I thoroughly enjoy white space and a simple design.  I have thoroughly enjoyed awakening the designer in me, even though I have a long way to go, I look forward to the development and appreciation I now have for design.
