The Story of Stuff

We have become so lax and lazy in this country & the world over.  Especially as Americans we have shopaholics, people using retail therapy to get over things, we value things more than people.  It has been quite a long time since I have met someone who seems to genuinely care about how their actions affect others; they have been raised to care only about themselves and no one else.

I received a sweater from a “swanky” store as a Christmas gift (and I know this sweater cost close to $100) my grandmother gave me the same sweater that she owned from the 70’s and no one can tell the difference between the two. She held on to everything and could not understand why we had to constantly shop for new clothes if we could still wear them.  Fashion wasn’t a concern of hers, as long as her clothes were clean and looked “neat” (her word – which I love!) on her body she felt she didn’t need to buy anything new.  Let’s create something new out of the things we already have.
