Robot Murders

After watching all three parts of the Pica Towers shorts I was a little confused by the stories I just watched. While they all start out as simple stories by the end of each there is a dark twist. All three short clips are all set in the same place and have a dark, ominous feeling about them and each clip left me asking, “what just happened?”

While watching the clips I was impressed by the animation and uniqueness of characters. This series was unusual because it didn’t deal with human involvement at all. Instead in each video brought gave the viewer a window into the terrifying world of these robots. Each video was done in black and white which give the clips and ominous quality and left the viewer anticipating doom for the characters.

Wide camera angles and dark music gave the viewer the impression that a voyeur was watching over the robots in Pica Towers. Voyeurism in each of the clips left me wanting to know more about what was happening to these bots, who was killing them off and why. The last video Pizza Sangre, might give us an insight to what is happening in Pica Towers because it is the only one who shows the identity of the killer. Although a conflict was developed in each one of these clips, I was left puzzled because there was never a clear resolution to the robots murders.
