20 Things I Learned About Browsers and the Web

This passage was particularly insightful because it called to my attention many aspects of the internet I hadn’t thought of before- despite my constant online presence. The article provided a simple way of explaining what originally seemed to be complex information such as the term bandwidth, which sounds particularly scientific. I learned that it is simply related to speed. The dial- up connection I had to wait hours to use is extremely different from the modern approach of DSL. I also discovered that HTML isn’t as nearly as complicated as I thought it was. There is a reasoning behind everything and it is not just a jumble of confusing letters and numbers. In addition, the illustrations for this reading helped to add a little humor. A nice little break was provided by the short poem about browsers. The section about cookies really shed some light on what they were all about. I learned that I love cookies because it provides autofill which is one of my favorite things when online shopping. Overall, this reading was both informational and enjoyable; I learned a lot about browsers and the web.
