After reading the first few sentences of this article, I became very confused. It stated, “some of our most distinguished business and cultural leaders do not understand web design”. My next thoughts were, “How is this possible?” and “What makes web design so difficult?” It was especially interesting to learn how varying parts of the media all get it wrong. However I soon discovered that just like most cases, it is crucial to start with the basics. Web design has to do with everything- including something as simple as font choice. As stated in the article, design critics turn to fancy fonts which actually result in appearing ugly. It is better to keep it simple at times in order to encompass the voice and mood of the site. If had take one thing away from this article to remember for furture use, it would be this quote:
“Web design is the creation of digital environments that facilitate and encourage human activity; reflect or adapt to individual voices and content; and change gracefully over time while always retaining their identity.”
