20 Things I learned About Browsers and the Web-Kyle Maher

Before reading “20 Things I learned About Browsers & the Web”, I thought I knew just about everything there was to know about the history of the computer, starting with the military and becoming mainstream with Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. But after reading the presentation, I learned that computer researchers had taken steps toward a digital age with the creation of the Internet Protocol Suite in 1974, which isn’t something I had known.

As the presentation mentions, many of us, myself included, surf the internet without a second thought as to what is happening behind the scenes. We use the internet without ever considering the complicated formulas and equations that the computer reads in order to send us to our favorite websites. Having grown up in the midst of the digital age, I am familiar with software and cloud computing, as well as most of the other basic features of a computer. I’m not someone who can do anything overly complicated on a computer, but I can complete an assignment, entertain myself online, or back my data up onto a hard drive. I continue to adapt to the ever-changing digital world around me in hopes that I can continue to keep up with today’s rapidly-changing technology.
