Hello HTML 5

A lot of the rules I have learned about HTML and CSS have gone in one ear and out the other. My brain just doesn’t seem to be able to organize this new language of web design I am learning. But, these HTML 5 elements are obvious to me and make complete sense. Instead of naming a bunch of divs and classes, the basic block elements have their own specific element names and rules. This is great, and will make writing code a lot simpler, faster, and easier

Right after the article discussed the simple new markup is where I got confused. I understand that there are different browsers and they update at their own pace, but I do not understand the JavaScript mumbo jumbo.

Then I understood again–the descriptions of how to use these new HTML 5 elements. I like how you can have a header and footer for every article on a web page, apart from the entire page’s header and footer. I don’t think I quite understand how to use the aside and section elements just yet. I wish there was an example for the aside element (I love the coded examples in these articles, they are extremely helpful).

This article if from 2009, so I can only imagine that there is so much more out there today on web design, and that only more is to come.
