After reading the series of articles from “The Story of Stuff” I’ve come to realize how much our society takes consumerism for granted. We buy goods that we assume to be professionally and ethically manufactured, but in actuality most of our products are being sold by large corporations, who don’t care about the environment, its animals, or the health and safety of nearby citizens. The article about Indian factories and there affect on the health and safety of the nearby village was alarming and frankly, disturbing. The work the woman has done to change the lives of so many has had an impact on citizens everywhere. Now people are stepping up and telling companies that their disregard for the safety of nearby citizens will not be tolerated any longer.
