Over 100 students, faculty, and staff turned out for Game Night at Belk Library on Friday, September 18.  Students feasted on brownies, cookies, and snacks when not playing Beatles Rock Band and Halo 3.  Other popular video games included Left 4 Dead, Nintendo, and Wii Sports.  Staff and students also played board and card games such as Twister, Connect4, Life, Jenga, Uno, and worked on puzzles.

The Belk Library staff and ACM Club teamed up to make Game Night possible.  Another Game Night event is being planned for the spring. Your response was sensational! The librarians at Belk Library asked the faculty and staff to recommend their favorite and/or most recently read books for summer reading. Over 300 titles were recommended. The books that are available in Belk Library are now displayed with the name of who recommended each book.

The debut of three new Read posters featuring Elon faculty members marks the start of Belk Library’s annual celebration of National Library Week, April 12-18.  This year’s posters feature Chaplain Richard McBride; El Centro director Sylvia Munoz; and engineering professors Richard D’Amato and Sirena Hargrove-Leak.

The posters are on display around the atrium skylight of the Information Commons on the first floor of Belk Library, along with posters from previous years.

Elon University celebrates National Library Week from April 13-19, 2008, with chances for the campus community to win books of their choice just by stopping by the Belk Library.

New READ posters featuring Elon faculty, staff and student government leaders will also be on display around the center atrium. Philosophy professor Anthony Weston, program assistant Janice Ratliff, and SGA officers Rob Saunders, John Bateman, Cassie Hickey and Chase Rumley posed for the advertisements.
