The Holocaust Remembrance display features books and media about genocide in general and the atrocities suffered by Jews and other groups during World War II. Hillel will sponsor other events during Holocaust Remembrance Week,  April 12-16.

Looking for something to read or watch? Belk Library student workers have recommended their favorite books or DVDs. You’ll find science fiction, how-to, poetry, comedy–even something for younger audiences. Check out the library display through Friday, April 2.

In observance of Black History Month, the Library book display features literature by African and African-American authors. As we continue to support the residents of Haiti, the display also includes works by Edwidge Danticat, a highly regarded Haitian-American author.

The book display coincides with the return of African-American Read-In Day on Friday, February 19.

Belk Library has enhanced its support of globalization with the addition of 100 books on contemporary Japanese culture, awarded by the Nippon Foundation following a successful grant application. Three hundred libraries and universities world-wide were chosen to participate in the program. The awarded books are currently on display in the library.

As part of its program to broaden the knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture, the Nippon Foundation asked ten experts with extensive knowledge of Japanese culture to identify 100 authoritative books about Japanese popular culture. These 100 books examine the country from every angle: politics and government, business, history, literature and the arts, and society and culture.

Belk Library joins International Studies in celebrating International Education Week. Check out the display of books and movies related to countries and cultures of the Middle East. You will also find an arrangement of Middle Eastern artifacts and photography.
