Learning Abroad

Now that I’ve spent almost a week in Vietnam, I’m beginning to feel like I’ve been here for much longer because I am so comfortable. Before my trip, I was told to watch out for the crazy traffic, and that it’s more chaotic than I would think. That is absolutely true. There is no way to fully understand the chaos of the traffic and pedestrians unless you’ve been here, but even that feels normal now. It’s easy to take charge and confidently walk across the street into traffic. I’ve also gotten used to bartering. What seemed insulting and rude, now feels normal and necessary. This just proves that it’s one thing to study a culture from a far, but it’s a completely different think to immerse yourself in it. The amount of knowledge and wisdom you gain from it is incredible. If I already know I’ve learned so much in one week in Vietnam, and I can’t wait for what’s to come in the following two weeks.
