Fun in the sun in Halong Bay!

After four hours in and out of sleep on our bus, we arrived in Halong Bay and to our surprise boarded a gorgeous one night cruise ship. When we got on board we had a few hours of free time and we all immediately headed to the sun deck to get some much needed color. After relaxing for a little bit, we boarded a charter boat which took us to a dock where we then got into smaller boats( 4 people each) and then proceeded to see the floating village.
The floating village was amazing. It was made up of homes-usually one family ones, that were literally floating in the water. There we saw a school that about 100 children attended, but it was about the size of a one room schoolhouse that many of us have probably visited in our elementary school days. After visiting the floating village, I was envious of the peaceful lifestyle those people must live. Even though it is not an easy lifestyle, it truly seemed like the people were happy with their life.
When we got back onto our cruise ship, we had a wonderful group discussion about what connections we have made thus far. Our conversation took place on the sun deck of our cruise and it was beautiful. It is safe to say that Halong Bay is definitely a place I could see myself returning to in the future.
