Join the Campus Champions of Change Challenge!

The White House Champions of Change program highlights the stories and examples of citizens across the country that represent President Obama’s vision of out-innovating, out-educating, and out-building the rest of the world through projects and initiatives that move their communities forward. Many of the most innovative and effective ideas are coming from young people on college campuses across the country. In an effort to highlight the very best student initiatives they are proud to announce the “Campus Champions of Change Challenge” in partnership with MTV U.

Tell them about your campus project and how it’s improving the lives of people in or around your campus community. Submit your project in this web form for a chance to go to the White House to be honored for your excellent work. Judges will choose 15 of the best projects submitted and YOU vote for the 5 campus projects that are honored at the White House.

Here are some examples of great campus projects that are winning the future to give you an idea of what they’re looking for:

• At College of the Holy Cross, a campus sustainability organization started a campaign to eliminate plastic trays from their school cafeteria. This successful campaign reduced the amount of waste produced by the student body daily by more than 10%.

• Another group of students started a women’s center on campus that provided sexual health information, counselors, and other resources to all students. The women’scenter ran on volunteers and created programming to spur conversation around gender and sexuality issues.

• Student at a university in Florida has launched a community initiative to register voters in underprivileged areas and empower citizens to become more civically engaged.
