Monday Meeting: 2014 CFL Senior Directors

“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.” – Oprah Winfrey

Welcome back, and happy 2014!

Oprah is an undeniable global media leader whose words above the new team of CFL leaders can follow into the new year.  The team – a mix of familiar and new faces – is ready to bring its experience and expertise into the new year. Today, you’ll be introduced to our new senior directors. We will introduce new members of the team every Monday, so be sure to check back in! Happy New Year, and have a great Winter Term!

Tess Duncan

Name: Tess Duncan

Year: Class of 2014

Hometown: Kansas City, KS

Favorite Candy: My favorite candy is Junior Mints!

How are you a leader? I am the senior director of the CFL team. In that role, I try to model the way for the members of the team. I oversee, facilitate and encourage the individual talents of our team members to work together and lead us to group excellence. It’s an incredible position full of opportunity and one that makes me a stronger leader every day.

Michael Spencer

Name: Michael Spencer

Year: Junior

Hometown: Orlean, Virginia

Favorite Leader: Queen Elizabeth I and Fredrick Douglass

How are you a leader? Through all of my Elon experiences, especially with the Center for Leadership and Gospel Choir, I have been able to meet so many amazing people. I love sitting down with a cup of coffee and listening to people’s life stories; everyone has an interesting and beautifully unique story. I think that it is my personable and empathic approach that has allowed me to become a leader!
