I vaguely remember seeing videos from this website while I was in high school (is that possible?). Those videos were about perceived and planned obsolescence, and used the same format to teach about how items are made to break. I think the format that Annie Leonard uses is effective because it employs simplistic design while breaking down a complex idea.
The strategies used to keep the consumer engaged were effective, I felt that I could switch between the ideas, taking me to different points in the video. I could pause the section and read the supplemental information at the bottom, and as the video progressed the supplemental information changed with it.
I liked the drawings that she used to add the the ideas she spoke about, and thought that they did a good job of breaking them down. While the simplicity could arguably take away from the gravity of the topics, it also makes the information more accessible for a younger audience. All audiences are driven by the call to action at the end as well, and are given a clear means to creating change. Overall I think that the interactive strategy greatly supports the the purpose of the videos.
