I think I’ve met a buddha disguised as a taxi driver once too..

The art series by Hillman Curtis is the best thing we have had to watch so far. It was engaging and interesting.. definitely beats Helvetica.

Looking into the lives of these designers/artists and listening to them discuss what design means to them and the way they look at typography, art and even the way they think was quite inspirational. My favorite of all was “Malcolm Gladwell” part of the series which showed the book which was illustrated with what looked like hand drawn out designs..

I LOVED IT!!.. I thought it was creative and innovative. It was different and for some reason it reminded me of Stitch bitch with regards to coloring outside the lines, trying something new, being different!!

Daniel Libeskind spoke about the importance of designs in buildings. I have always been intrigued by the beauty that is architecture, how buildings look so wild yet descriptive. He describes the importance of using negative space saying that it is just as important as what is present which I believe is a very important aspect to all kinds of design.

The main message I got from watching most of these movies was that as long as design stirred some kind of emotion and kept the audience engaged that makes it a good work.

Mark Romanek said ” Sometimes there is no reason to put something on a wall other than its beautiful” but he also goes to say that if there is more meaning in doing something like breaking a chair to give it more meaning then by all means break the chair!..

We need to escape our comfort zone, step out of the box and follow the most important message of all ” worrying solves nothing”.  I think I have met a buddha disguised as a taxi driver before .. but thats another story..
