Teach me, Phil.

I’ve always gone to town with a paintbrush. Charcoal and pastel are pretty fun as well. But hey, who am I kidding…when it comes to the digital realm, I’m pretty lost.

When I’m creating with these more traditional mediums, I get lost in the process. I have never been much for planning ahead, sketching, organizing…what is that stuff? I’m basically in a creative whirlwind with no actual goal in mind and sometimes it ends up ok, sometimes I just toss it, depending on my mood.

So…obviously I need a bit of direction. Wait, probably a lot of direction. I want to be able to pinpoint not that something is aesthetically pleasing, not even really why something is aesthetically pleasing. My ultimate goal in this class is to learn to plan ahead. I would like to be able take my knowledge of design and channel it toward something I actually visualized and thought out beforehand. I would also like this visualization-turned-reality to be based on concrete knowledge of design principles and how they apply to modern media…not just a canvas or a sketchbook.

All in all I hope to master the technology so I can RULE THE WORLD! No, but really I hope to develop the kind of content people find polished and refreshing, but most importantly to create it with strategy, organization and intent.
